Haverhill Wheelers Club History
Started at a meeting in the 'Toc H hut' by A.Scott, R.Spurgeon, P.Allan, H.Farrant, E.Thake and L.Sizer who was the club chairman at the time. Membership was 5 shillings, which is equivalent to 25p today.
The Club was founded on Tues October 8th. 1935 It was disbanded on Wednesday January 10th. 1940 For the duration of World War 2
It was reformed on Monday March 25th. 1946 and has continued to date with a drop in membership to three members in the early Seventies.
Ed Taylor's involvement in 1972 encouraged New Membership from the younger generation, the Club grew with the involvement of E.S.C.A (English Schools Cycling Association) and Ed Taylors coaching of the Schoolboy members. and parents who helped with the running of the Club.
Unfortunately in the last few years membership and interest has declined so the Officials and remaining members made the decision to disband the Club at the AGM on 26th. November 2012. 77 Years since that meeting in the 'Toc H hut'.

Who Are We?
We are the local cycling club for the Haverhill area. We have a membership of approx. 25 members ranging from 10 years old to early 70's. We have members who race regularly and others who ride purely for pleasure. We also have members who no longer ride their bikes but enjoy being part of the ;cyclist fraternity and who regularly help out and support the Haverhill Wheelers throughout the year.
